I'm a part-time grad school student and also a former teacher. Hoping for December graduation! During this season of being in school, I've gotten divorced, remarried, had another baby, COVID, a couple of long illnesses, perimenopause...it ain't easy! When you wrote that it can be so hard to be interrupted by kid stuff when doing schoolwork, that resonated 100 percent. I've learned that for me, it's easier to be fully with the kids during family time and then squeeze in work early morning, after they are in bed, etc. It sounds like your partner is an amazing support! You're doing awesome- you've got this!
Love your encouragement so much. And man you've gone through so much during that time – congrats for continuing to go after what you want despite the hard seasons (and wonderful ones, too)! Huge props to you!
I'm also a mom of 3 who's navigating a career pivot! I just graduated a month ago and am interviewing for accounting jobs. I'd love to hear from this community what you'd look for in an entry-level job when you're already a parent. A lot of the advice on negotiating for a good job for family life assumes you already have career capital, but I'm already deep into motherhood (11 yo, 9 yo, 5 yo), starting a new career from scratch.
i love hearing from a parent that's also a student--you're really doing it! i love it!
i'm a vet student with a 2.5yo, finally in my last year of school! we've got this! too many exclamation marks?!
I love it too – so appreciate the enthusiasm. Right there with you!
