Welcome! I’m Kelly Nolan, an attorney-turned-time management strategist and mom of two. Through teaching the Bright Method™️ time management system, I help professional working women ditch the overwhelm and get life feeling lighter and more enjoyable.
Here on Substack, I’m hosting my took-on-a-life-of-its-own “How I Structure My Day” series.
This "How I Structure My Day" series started with an Instagram post I made about my own life, which prompted a woman to ask if it would be possible to see how women working a more traditional, full-time job did it. I asked women to share, and, man, have people responded. The goal is to show how women from different industries, with and without kids, with and without partners, with family living with/near them and not, wfh to 1+ hour commutes, etc. structure their day. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I do!
They publish every Thursday, so subscribe to get them each week!
Sounds good. And what’s the Bright Method?
Born out of my big law attorney days, the Bright Method is a realistic time management system designed for professional working women to help them manage it all – personally and professionally – with less stress and more clarity and peace of mind.
I teach it in a 10-week program. I also share time management strategies on Instagram, in my free 5-day program, and on my podcast, the Bright Method podcast (here on Apple; here on Spotify).
A bit about me in case you’re curious
Despite being decently organized through law school, becoming an actual attorney threw me for a loop.
As a patent litigator working at a big law firm in Boston, I grew frustrated with how much time I wasted trying (and often failing) to slog through my never-ending jumble of to-do items and email.
Not only that, but my confusion about how to get it all done caused me a lot of stress and a weird level of shame for not knowing how to manage it all.
I looked for help but nothing stuck or it sounded easy enough but was surprisingly hard to implement (hello, salt in wound).
Over time, I created my own time/task management system that gave me new abilities to focus at work with less stress, be present with friends and family, and take breaks – and actually enjoy them.
I used this time management system to help me continue practicing law and later to leave it to run my own business (and get married, get a dog, and have two kids). It wasn't until years later that I realized that many other women feel how I'd felt and that this time management system has a nerdily fun way of helping them feel more in control, confident, and able to take a break and actually enjoy it.
So, here I am. I now work with professional working women exclusively on time management so you can feel more calm and confident, drive your career forward, and soak in time with family and friends.
And on the personal front…
I'm originally from Minneapolis, grew up mostly abroad moving every six months to three years (my favorites were Mexico and England), went to college and law school on the East Coast at Dartmouth College and Boston College Law School, and practiced law in Boston and California. I'm from all over and love meeting new people.
I now live in Minnesota with my husband (an emergency room physician – so I get weird schedules!), our 7- and 3.5-year-old daughters, and our original baby, the world's sweetest black lab, Olive.
Let’s work together, set up your new time management system designed for professional working women (and that molds to you!), and help you ditch the overwhelm and find the calm. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you feel the results – and how much fun we have in the process.
