Wonderful share. It’s humbling to see someone pivot through life seasons and help kids build their independence with habit building routines and guidance!
Love how everyone leans into making the best of small but precious gaps throughout the day.
Would love to see this series turn into a book one day!!🙏🙏🎉🎉
Jim! What a lovely comment. Thank you. Agreed on all counts - love the different life chapters, and very inspiring on teaching kids independence and responsibility. Thanks for the kind comment!
Thank you so much for sharing! Your kids are a little older than mine, but all of this feels so helpful to read. I loved the tips about landline phones and chores, in particular. Additionally, I love that you make couch time with a friend while folding laundry! It is such a helpful reminder to keep the connection with friends, even if it’s over something banal—they won’t care!
I did/do the same with my kids and their chores. Now that it’s summer, I’ve been adding a time (done by noon, etc) to the white board and it helps a ton!
I have two kids, ages 15 and 11, so this was super helpful to read. One of our big "projects" this summer is working on independence. And it's very validating that I, too, am just DONE in the evenings and don't accomplish much beyond the basics.
I love seeing this on Substack vs. Instagram. So much easier to read!
Hooray! Love to hear it. Thank you!

Folding laundry (or doing another chore/running an errand) with a friend is the epitome of friendship to me.
I agree! There’s something so wholesome, back-to-fundamentals, and real about a friendship like that. Made me want to start doing that!
Totally agree! Love all the points you mention!
This was a great share! I love the whiteboard tip for kids and outsourcing around the holidays for errands and wrapping.
Agreed! Loved those points, too!

Super smart! Thank you for sharing!

Oh I’m so happy to hear it. This definitely inspired me to try to do the same. And yes - sooo many of us are just spent in the evenings!
Wow - this is so great to read about how she has given her kids independence! Saving these ideas for my kiddos as they get older!
Agreed! It’s something I really need to work on. Very motivating!
